Accommodation & Facilities

Shire House is a Residential Home for the elderly, registered under the Care Standards Act 2000 for the care of up to 22 male or female residents. At Shire House we have 21 bedrooms, with 2 suites; 20 are are en-suite with modern facilities including telephones and television points in each bedroom.

​The three floors are easily accessed by a passenger lift. All ground floor rooms have their own entrance from the gardens with individual patio areas and easy access. We have ample parking for visitors.

Communal Areas

All residents have use of the dining room, the communal lounges, a library area and other sitting/circulating areas and the grounds of the home.

​Other facilities include a medical room, two communal bathrooms with hoist assisted baths and shower rooms. We also have various outdoor seating areas in our lovely gardens; these are on the level with wheelchair accessible routes.

Bedrooms

We have 21 bedrooms, two of which are suites. Our suites are on the top floor and have lovely views over to Lyme Bay. They each have a bedroom, bathroom and their own lounge. Of our remaining 19 bedrooms, 18 are en-suite. 14 rooms are on the ground floor and 5 are on the first floor.
Residents may personalise their own rooms by bringing with them their own furniture, ornaments and pictures. We try to follow individual preferences in matters of decoration and furnishings. Telephones and television points are in each bedroom.

​There is a bath-master on each floor to enable residents to use their own bathrooms with assistance offered where necessary. We also have a main bathroom with a bath hoist for greater assistance.

Security & Comfort

For security and comfort all rooms, bathrooms and communal areas are linked to the latest radio paging Aid Call system with is also able to be used in the gardens. Our staff are on duty 24 hours a day.

The Gardens

At Shire House we are lucky enough to have large mature gardens with patio areas and two lounges all for residents' and visitors' use.
